Carpet is always standard rated
HMRC does not count carpet or carpet tiles as building materials, so carpet carries VAT at 20% even when fitted during the construction of a new home.
Vinyl, laminate and wood can be different
Other fixed floor coverings do count as building materials, so on qualifying new build work they can be zero rated. Ask us before you order.
